Just to do your thing’s the hardest thing to do. You’ve gotta make your own kind of music, sing your own special song… even if nobody else sings along.

The Mamas and the Papas (this song is currently on repeat)

We got this peel-and-place chalkboard at Target… I knew I had to have it. The teeeeeny little “hallway” between the main room and the kitchen has such a bare wall. I wanted to write a favorite quote on it but my mind was completely blank, so I wrote what I know.

I am not sure if anyone on Tumblr cares, but I make custom order soaps to sell. They’re very popular with my friends and I personally use them for my blackheads (coffee soaps) and to shave my legs (aloe soap). The prices are very low, lower than you’d find on Etsy.com, so check it out. I’m currently unemployed and about to move out on my own and get married, so I can really use the extra dough! ♥

Chris and I have decided.

After we’re married, we’re going to make Sunday, for the most part, No-Internet Day. Of course for his major and his job he needs to use the computer and net to get his coding done or a paper that’s due. But generally speaking, especially when he doesn’t have anything to get done by Monday, we’re only going to check our daily online stops on Sunday evening and spend the rest of the day with the computers off.

Why? First of all, the internet is too addictive. It’s like having a TV in your bedroom - reduces intimacy (and I don’t just mean sex, I mean having long, deep talks whispered across the blankets). Yes, we both have and will continue to bond over internet memes together (I’m not kidding) but it’s no substitute for sitting together and talking.

But I also want to turn off the internet because while it’s an endless source of creative inspiration, it also keeps me from doing creative things. What would I do all day with no internet to distract me? When this happens, I feel happier, to be honest. I also tend to drift towards journalling in my real, paper journal with my real, private and most important thoughts. I might cook something that takes more time and is more satisfying and special. Or I’ll break out soap supplies, colored paper and stamps, scissors, paint, scraps of things, and just create something. I am depressed and feel somewhat constipated when I’m not doing something creative and the internet doesn’t help.

In fact, I am closing my laptop right now to go shower and finish up my soap order for Miss Fiona, which I’ve been procrastinating on, then making some Christmas cards for the craft fair in a couple of weeks.

Ttfn~
